ZP9830 is a potent and selective blocker of the potassium voltage-gated channel subfamily A member 3 (Kv1.3), developed by Zealand Pharma for the treatment of T cell-driven chronic inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. Kv1.3 channels are selectively upregulated on T effector memory cells, which play a key role in autoimmunity and chronic inflammation by releasing pro-inflammatory cytokines that drive tissue damage. By blocking Kv1.3, ZP9830 aims to suppress pathogenic T cell activity while preserving other immune functions. The drug is administered via intravenous or subcutaneous injection and is currently in Phase 1 clinical trials for chronic inflammation and autoimmune diseases[1][2][4]. It was also under preclinical development for inflammatory bowel disease[4].
