Overview

ZQL-4c is a novel synthetic oleanolic acid derivative developed by researchers at the Dalian University of Technology and the Liaoning Cancer Hospital and Institute. It exhibits potent anti-tumor activity against breast cancer, including triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) and HER2-positive breast cancer. ZQL-4c acts primarily by targeting stearoyl-CoA desaturase 1 (SCD1), which inhibits de novo lipid synthesis and induces lipotoxicity-mediated apoptosis. Additionally, it has been shown to stimulate oxidative stress (reactive oxygen species production) and inhibit the Notch-AKT signaling pathway. In preclinical models, ZQL-4c has demonstrated efficacy in overcoming trastuzumab resistance in HER2-positive breast cancer when used in combination with trastuzumab.
