Overview

ZR202a-CoV is a recombinant protein-based vaccine developed for the prevention of COVID-19. It contains 25 micrograms of the spike (S) protein from the B.1.351 (Beta) variant of SARS-CoV-2, expressed in Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells and adjuvanted with aluminum hydroxide (Al(OH)3) and CpG oligodeoxynucleotide (CpG-ODN). The vaccine is designed to induce robust humoral and cellular immune responses by presenting the trimeric pre-fusion S protein to the immune system, thereby generating neutralizing antibodies against SARS-CoV-2, including cross-neutralization activity against Beta, Delta, and Omicron variants. Clinical trials have shown that ZR202a-CoV has a safety and immunogenicity profile comparable to other leading vaccines such as Comirnaty[4][2]. The primary indication is for COVID-19 prevention.
