Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ZS-05 is a small molecule Vitamin D3 analog and steroid derivative being developed by Zensun for the prevention and treatment of recurrent urinary tract infections (RUTI). The drug acts as an agonist of the Vitamin D receptor (VDR), which triggers the induction and secretion of LL-37, an endogenous antimicrobial peptide, from bladder epithelial cells. By enhancing the innate immune response of the bladder lining, ZS-05 aims to provide a non-antibiotic approach to managing chronic urinary infections. It has received clinical trial approval in China and is currently in Phase 2 clinical development.
