Overview

ZSP0678 is an investigational small molecule drug that acts as an agonist of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors (PPARs). It is being developed primarily for the treatment of primary biliary cholangitis and familial primary biliary cirrhosis, with additional investigation in nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). The drug was initially developed by Guangdong Zhongsheng Pharmaceutical and is now actively developed by Raynovent. Its mechanism involves activation of PPARs, which are nuclear hormone receptors involved in regulating lipid metabolism, inflammation, and fibrosis—key pathways implicated in liver diseases such as NASH and cholestatic disorders[1][2]. Clinical trials have focused on evaluating its safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, and food effects in healthy volunteers[3][4].
