Overview
Zuoqing San (also known as Zuoqing Granule or ZQG) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formula developed by The Second Affiliated Hospital of Anhui University of Traditional Chinese Medicine for the treatment of postoperative wound healing in patients with anal fistula. The formulation is typically composed of five herbal ingredients: Indigo Naturalis, Cortex Phellodendri, Radix Sophorae Flavescentis, Herba Agrimoniae, and Radix Sanguisorbae. It is administered topically as a fumigation and washing treatment. Zuoqing San works by suppressing pathological neutrophil extracellular trap (NET) formation through the inhibition of the Nox4/ROS/PI3K/Akt/PADI4 signaling pathway. Preclinical studies have demonstrated its ability to accelerate wound closure, resolve inflammation, and reduce bacterial burden by significantly suppressing NETosis.
