Overview

Zutrab is a biosimilar version of bevacizumab, a recombinant humanized monoclonal antibody developed by Laboratorios Richmond S.A.C.I.F. It functions as an angiogenesis inhibitor by specifically binding to the vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) protein. This binding prevents VEGF from interacting with its receptors (VEGFR-1 and VEGFR-2) on the surface of endothelial cells, thereby suppressing the formation of new blood vessels required for tumor growth and maintenance. Zutrab is developed for the treatment of various solid tumors, including colorectal cancer and non-small cell lung cancer, and has undergone clinical evaluation to demonstrate pharmacokinetic and safety equivalence to the reference product, Avastin.
