Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ZX2021 is a long-acting, dual-target agonist of the glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and gastric inhibitory polypeptide (GIP) receptors. Developed by Jiangsu Zhongxin Pharmaceutical, the drug is designed to treat metabolic disorders, specifically obesity and overweight. By co-activating GLP-1 and GIP receptors, ZX2021 leverages the synergistic effects of these incretin hormones to regulate blood glucose levels, delay gastric emptying, and suppress appetite, leading to significant weight reduction. It is currently undergoing Phase Ib/IIa clinical trials in China, demonstrating potential as a next-generation treatment for chronic weight management.
