Overview

ZYD1 is a novel synthetic peptide and glucagon-like peptide 1 receptor (GLP-1R) agonist developed as an antidiabetic agent. It exhibits increased stability to proteolytic cleavage, particularly against dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-IV), which may contribute to its prolonged activity. Preclinical studies demonstrated beneficial effects on glucose reduction and weight loss without gastrointestinal side effects or antibody generation. The drug was designed and developed by Zydus Lifesciences (formerly known as Zydus Cadila) as part of the incretin mimetic class for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. A first-in-human Phase I clinical trial evaluated its safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacodynamics in healthy volunteers[1][2][4].
