ZYG24004

ZYG24004 is an investigational topical film-forming formulation of terbinafine hydrochloride developed by Jiangsu Zhiyuan Pharmaceutical. It is designed for the treatment of tinea pedis (athlete's foot) caused by dermatophyte infections. The film-forming technology creates a thin, substantive layer on the skin upon application, which serves as a reservoir for the active antifungal agent, potentially improving drug delivery and patient compliance by allowing for sustained release. Terbinafine hydrochloride, the active component, is a squalene monooxygenase inhibitor that disrupts the biosynthesis of ergosterol, a vital component of the fungal cell membrane, leading to fungal cell death. ZYG24004 is currently undergoing Phase 1b clinical trials in China to evaluate its safety, pharmacokinetics, and preliminary efficacy.
