Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Zylast is an over-the-counter (OTC) topical antiseptic product line developed by Innovative BioDefense and manufactured by partners such as Bocchi Laboratories. It is primarily indicated for hand hygiene to reduce the bacterial load on the skin and prevent the transmission of pathogens. The product is available in several formulations, including Zylast XP (Extended Protection) and Zylast Antiseptic K, which are delivered as lotions or foaming soaps. Its antimicrobial action is derived from active ingredients such as ethyl alcohol, which denatures proteins, and quaternary ammonium compounds like benzethonium chloride or benzalkonium chloride, which disrupt microbial cell membranes. Unlike systemic antibiotics, Zylast acts non-specifically on the skin surface and is intended for frequent, repeated use in both healthcare and consumer environments.
