Overview

Zymolytic grain based extract (ZGE) is a nutraceutical product derived from the enzymatic fermentation of grains. It has demonstrated antiviral activity against HIV-1 in vitro and in vivo, with low cytotoxicity. Additionally, ZGE exhibits antioxidant properties and may have anti-obesity effects as well as the ability to extend lifespan and enhance stress resistance in model organisms such as Caenorhabditis elegans. The bioactive components are believed to include phenolic compounds and other phytochemicals generated or enriched during the fermentation process[1][4]. Its mechanism of action is not fully elucidated but appears to involve inhibition of viral infection (HIV-1), antioxidative effects, and metabolic modulation.
