ZYMOX is a brand name associated with two distinct therapeutic categories: a veterinary enzymatic system for topical infections and a human oral antibiotic. The veterinary line, developed by PKB Animal Health, features the patented LP3 Enzyme System, which consists of three essential enzymes—lactoperoxidase, glucose oxidase, and lysozyme—often supplemented with lactoferrin. This system exerts a broad-spectrum antimicrobial effect by disrupting microbial cell walls and metabolic pathways, making it effective against bacterial, fungal, and yeast infections (including MRSA and *Pseudomonas*) in companion animals. Some veterinary formulations also include hydrocortisone to manage inflammation and pruritus.
