These products are essential for intracellular calcium mobilization and the activation of protein kinase C, facilitating various signal transduction pathways. PLCH2 is predominantly expressed in the retina and specific regions of the brain, such as the cerebellum and hippocampus, indicating a specialized role in sensory and neuronal signaling (PubMed: 15159411). Research suggests its involvement in the regulation of neurite outgrowth and potentially in the pathophysiology of certain cancers and neurological disorders (PubMed: 24333146).
