Aldo-keto reductase family 1 member C3 (AKR1C3) is a cytosolic enzyme involved in the metabolism of steroids and prostaglandins. It plays a significant role in hormone-dependent cancers, particularly prostate, hepatocellular, and esophageal cancers, where it can contribute to tumor growth and resistance to therapy.
