Target intelligence / Profile preview
30S Ribosomal Protein S14 is an essential component of the small (30S) subunit of prokaryotic ribosomes. It plays a critical role in the assembly and structural integrity of the 30S particle, which is responsible for decoding messenger RNA during protein synthesis. In eukaryotes, its homolog is found in the 40S subunit. It binds directly to 16S rRNA at or near the A-site, influencing its conformation and thus affecting translation fidelity and efficiency. In eukaryotes, RPS14 has been implicated in additional regulatory roles in cancer.
