Target intelligence / Profile preview
50S ribosomal protein L3 is a highly conserved and essential component of the large subunit (50S) of prokaryotic ribosomes. It plays a central role in ribosome assembly, structure, and function, particularly in the formation and activity of the peptidyltransferase center (PTC), which is responsible for peptide bond formation during protein synthesis. Mutations in L3 can confer resistance to antibiotics that target the PTC and affect translational fidelity.
