50S Ribosomal Protein L4

Molecular classification
Ribosomal Protein
01

Overview

50S ribosomal protein L4 is a highly conserved component of the large (50S) subunit of prokaryotic ribosomes. It plays essential roles in both the structure and function of the ribosome, as well as in gene regulation. L4 is an autogenous feedback regulator of its own operon (S10 operon) expression, acting as both a transcriptional and translational repressor.
