5S ribosomal RNA pseudogene 111 (RNA5SP111) is a non-coding RNA pseudogene sequence derived from the 5S ribosomal RNA gene family. The canonical 5S rRNA is a ~120 nucleotide RNA essential for ribosome function and protein synthesis, acting as a structural and possibly catalytic component in the ribosome. Pseudogenes of 5S rRNA, such as RNA5SP111, are considered non-functional genomic elements generated by duplication events or retrotransposition and do not contribute to ribosome assembly or protein synthesis.
