5S ribosomal RNA pseudogene 25 (RNA5SP25) is a non-coding RNA pseudogene related to the functional 5S ribosomal RNA gene, an essential component of the large ribosomal subunit[3][2]. The 5S rRNA is highly conserved, approximately 120 nucleotides long, and plays a crucial structural and functional role in the ribosome by participating in the formation of the central protuberance of the large ribosomal subunit[3][1]. However, pseudogenes like RNA5SP25 are generally inactive genomic copies of the 5S rRNA gene and do not contribute to ribosomal structure or function[2][6]. Unlike their parent functional genes, pseudogenes typically are not transcribed or translated and thus are not considered therapeutic drug targets or biomarkers[6]. There is currently no evidence that RNA5SP25 has any biological or disease-related function, nor any known drug interactions.
