The \"pseudogene\" designation means it no longer encodes a functional RNA molecule—typically the result of accumulated mutations or defective transcriptional machinery—unlike functional 5S rRNA genes that are critical structural and regulatory components of the ribosome[1][3][4]. While some pseudogenes may occasionally participate in gene regulation or miRNA competition, there is no evidence that RNA5SP253 plays any biological or pathological role[2][4]. It is not considered a therapeutic target, nor is it relevant for biomarker or drug development purposes.
