5S ribosomal RNA pseudogene 433 (RNA5SP433) is a processed pseudogene derived from the 5S ribosomal RNA gene family. True 5S rRNA is an approximately 120-nucleotide RNA molecule, universally conserved as a structural and functional component of the large ribosomal subunit in bacteria, archaea, and eukaryotes, except for mitochondria in fungi and animals[1][3][5]. Unlike functional 5S rRNA genes, pseudogenes such as RNA5SP433 arise through retrotransposition or duplication events that disrupt normal expression or function, and consequently, they do not contribute to ribosome structure or protein synthesis[2]. Most ribosomal RNA pseudogenes are not transcribed or translated and are generally non-functional, although some may acquire regulatory roles in gene expression or genome evolution in specific contexts[2][4]. There is no evidence that RNA5SP433 acts as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or other therapeutic target, nor is it involved in canonical signaling pathways or as a pharmacological target.
