Target intelligence / Profile preview
5S ribosomal RNA pseudogene 449 (RNA5SP449) is a pseudogene in the human genome that originated from the 5S ribosomal RNA gene. The 5S rRNA is a 120-nucleotide RNA species that is a core component of the large ribosomal subunit and critical for ribosome assembly and protein synthesis. Pseudogenes such as RNA5SP449 arise through duplication or retrotransposition events, often accumulating mutations that render them nonfunctional. This particular pseudogene does not code for functional RNA or protein and, to current knowledge, has no catalogued biological function, disease association, nor is it a therapeutic target.
