Target intelligence / Profile preview
5S ribosomal RNA pseudogene 535 (RNA5SP535) is a member of the 5S rRNA pseudogene family. Pseudogenes like RNA5SP535 are sequences that resemble functional genes (in this case, 5S ribosomal RNA genes), but they have accumulated mutations rendering them nonfunctional—they do not encode functional RNA or protein. 5S rRNA pseudogenes are typically present in multiple copies throughout the genome as remnants of retrotransposition or genome duplication events. This particular pseudogene is listed in human genome databases but is not known to have any role as a drug target, receptor, or to participate in disease mechanisms.
