Overview

60S ribosomal protein L14 (RPL14) is a cytoplasmic component of the large 60S subunit of the ribosome in humans, belonging to the L14E family of ribosomal proteins. It plays an essential structural role in ribosome assembly and function, facilitating the synthesis of proteins. The protein contains a basic region-leucine zipper (bZIP)-like domain, and the gene includes a highly polymorphic trinucleotide (GCT) repeat. It does not act as a classic therapeutic target such as an enzyme, receptor, or transporter, but rather as an essential housekeeping protein involved in translation[1][4][5].
