Overview

60S ribosomal protein L15 is a highly conserved structural protein that forms part of the large subunit (60S) of eukaryotic ribosomes, essential for cellular protein synthesis[3][5]. RPL15 participates in ribosome assembly, rRNA maturation, and nucleolar function[1][2]. Its gene (RPL15) encodes a cytoplasmic protein, which is upregulated in several cancers (notably colon, esophageal, and gastric) and is deleted in some patients with Diamond-Blackfan anemia[1][5]. Elevated RPL15 expression in cancers is linked with increased cell proliferation and poor prognosis, while experimental depletion induces cell cycle arrest or apoptosis, supporting its consideration as a novel cancer biomarker and therapeutic target[1][3][5].

Mechanism of action
