Target intelligence / Profile preview
60S ribosomal protein L17 (RPL17) is a component of the large (60S) subunit of the cytoplasmic ribosome and belongs to the L22P family of ribosomal proteins. It is crucial for ribosome architecture, interacting with rRNA to stabilize the polypeptide exit tunnel, and is essential for pre-rRNA processing during ribosome biogenesis. RPL17 is a structural protein required for the normal maturation of the 60S ribosomal subunit and plays roles in protein synthesis in all cells. Deficiency of RPL17 disrupts rRNA processing, leading to defective ribosome assembly and reduced protein synthesis capability, with implications for disorders such as anemia and pancytopenia[1][2][3][4].
