Overview

60S ribosomal protein L30 (RPL30) is a structural protein component of the large 60S subunit of the eukaryotic ribosome. RPL30 is classified in the L30E family and is located in the cytoplasm[1][2][5]. It forms essential structural and functional contacts with ribosomal RNA and other ribosomal proteins to support protein synthesis. In addition to its canonical role, RPL30 is involved in ribosome biogenesis and, in mammals, participates in selenocysteine incorporation. Knockdown of RPL30 can disrupt ribosome assembly and indirectly lead to p53 stabilization and cell cycle arrest via nucleolar stress pathways[1]. There are no drugs that target RPL30, and it does not serve as a clinical biomarker or direct therapeutic target.
