Overview

60S ribosomal protein L32 (RPL32) is a structural protein that forms part of the large 60S subunit of the eukaryotic ribosome in humans[1][3][12]. It is encoded by the RPL32 gene and belongs to the L32E family of ribosomal proteins. Ribosomal proteins such as L32 are essential for ribosome assembly, stability, and the catalysis of protein synthesis (translation) within the cytoplasm[1][5]. Genes encoding ribosomal proteins often have multiple processed pseudogenes. While RPL32 is not a classical drug target (e.g., enzyme, receptor), alterations in its expression or mutation have been associated with several disease states including cancer and inherited disorders[3].
