This signature consists of eight serum biomarkers—CD40L, IL-10, IL-12, IL-27, Complement C3, Cystatin C, Cathepsin D, and STIP1—which are analyzed alongside Carbohydrate Antigen 19-9 (CA19-9) to improve diagnostic accuracy (Immunovia AB, 2021). The panel utilizes an antibody microarray platform to capture the immune system's response to the tumor, addressing the limitations of using CA19-9 alone, which often lacks sensitivity in early-stage disease (Brand et al., 2011, Clinical Cancer Research). While the individual proteins involved play critical roles in immune regulation, proteolysis, and cell signaling, the signature as a whole is not a therapeutic target but a diagnostic tool for patient stratification. It is particularly intended for high-risk individuals, such as those with a family history of pancreatic cancer or new-onset diabetes (Mellby et al., 2018). Consequently, there are no drugs that target this signature as a single entity, though its components are frequently studied in the context of cancer biology and immunotherapy.
