A Proliferation-Inducing Ligand Receptors (APRIL Receptors)

Target
APRIL Receptors
Molecular classification
Receptor, Tumor Necrosis Factor Receptor Superfamily
01

Overview

A proliferation-inducing ligand receptors refers to the cell surface receptors that bind APRIL (A Proliferation-Inducing Ligand), a member of the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) superfamily. The main receptors for APRIL are TACI (Transmembrane Activator and CAML Interactor, also known as TNFRSF13B) and BCMA (B-cell Maturation Antigen, also known as TNFRSF17). These receptors play crucial roles in B cell biology, regulating plasma cell survival, immunoglobulin class switching, and activated B cell function. Dysregulation of this pathway is implicated in autoimmune diseases, IgA nephropathy, and certain cancers, making it a therapeutic target.
