A1BG antisense RNA 1 (A1BG-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA encoded on chromosome 19, functioning primarily as a regulatory molecule in cellular gene expression. In hepatocellular carcinoma, it acts as a tumor suppressor by sponging miR-216a-5p, thereby upregulating tumor suppressor genes such as PTEN and SMAD7[2][3][7]. In breast cancer, A1BG-AS1 promotes proliferation, migration, invasion, and chemotherapy resistance by stabilizing ABCB1 (MDR1) mRNA via interaction with IGF2BP2, impacting adriamycin resistance[4]. It has also been linked to immune regulation by influencing key immune response genes[5]. While it is not the direct target of approved drugs, its expression serves as a prognostic biomarker in several cancers and suggests potential as a future therapeutic target or biomarker in oncology and immunology.
