AADACL2 antisense RNA 1 (AADACL2-AS1)

Target
AADACL2-AS1
Molecular classification
Long non-coding RNA (lncRNA), Antisense RNA
01

Overview

AADACL2 antisense RNA 1 (AADACL2-AS1) is a human long non-coding RNA gene located on chromosome 3q25.1, overlapping and transcribed antisense to the AADACL2 protein-coding gene. This lncRNA is annotated across major gene databases (HGNC, Ensembl, NCBI, LNCipedia) with several transcript variants, most of which show no protein-coding potential[3][5][6][7][9]. Its biological functions and mechanistic impact are currently unknown; however, antisense lncRNAs are often hypothesized to regulate their corresponding sense gene (AADACL2) through transcriptional or post-transcriptional mechanisms. There is weak, indirect association with breast cancer, but no established role as a drug target, biomarker, or receptor, and no clinical safety or drug interaction data[7].

Biological functions

Currently unknown or not established; as an antisense lncRNA, it may regulate the expression of AADACL2 or neighboring genes, but specific roles have not been experimentally characterized in the literature at present

Disease associations

Some association with Breast Cancer is reported in gene databases, although the functional role and mechanism are not defined
