ABHD16B antisense RNA 1 (ABHD16B-AS1) is a validated non-coding RNA gene found on the opposite strand of the ABHD16B protein-coding gene. As an antisense long non-coding RNA, ABHD16B-AS1 may participate in the regulation of ABHD16B expression, transcriptional activity, and epigenetic processes such as DNA methylation and histone modification. Antisense RNAs are tissue specific and may regulate their sense gene or other genes, though their precise functions are often understudied. ABHD16B-AS1 is not a protein target, therapeutic receptor, or biomarker.
