Absorption of exudate

Absorption of exudate is the process by which wound dressings or natural tissue environments uptake and retain wound fluid ("exudate"), which contains water, nutrients, electrolytes, proteins, inflammatory mediators, and cells[2][4][7][9]. Proper absorption is critical in wound management to maintain a moist healing environment, prevent infection, and avoid complications such as maceration or delayed healing. Traditional and advanced dressings are designed to manage exudate absorption based on wound type and exudate volume[9].
