ACBD3 antisense RNA 1 (ACBD3-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA that is transcribed from the opposite strand of the ACBD3 gene locus. As an antisense transcript, its primary biological function is thought to be the regulation of the ACBD3 sense mRNA, likely through mechanisms such as hybridization with the sense transcript, modification of chromatin structure, or recruitment of epigenetic modifiers. There is currently no evidence that ACBD3-AS1 functions as a therapeutic target, nor are there characterized drugs, biomarkers, or disease connections directly associated with this transcript[3]. It is an example of the growing class of lncRNAs whose regulatory roles in gene expression are still being elucidated. No known safety concerns are documented, and its therapeutic relevance remains undefined at this time[3].
