Overview

Achaete-scute family bHLH transcription factor 2 (ASCL2) is a basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH) transcription factor. Under normal physiological conditions, ASCL2 is primarily expressed in intestinal stem cells and placenta. In cancer, ASCL2 becomes aberrantly overexpressed and has been identified as a tumor-associated antigen in several malignancies. It plays a critical role in maintaining stemness phenotype, promoting tumor growth and progression, and contributing to immune evasion. Targeting ASCL2 may sensitize tumors to immunotherapies.
