Acireductone dioxygenase 1 pseudogene 3 (ADI1P3) is a non-protein-coding pseudogene related to the acireductone dioxygenase 1 (ADI1) gene. While ADI1 encodes a metal-binding enzyme involved in the methionine salvage pathway and various regulatory processes, including possible tumor suppression and viral entry modulation[1][4][6], ADI1P3 itself does not produce a functional protein and is not implicated as a therapeutic or diagnostic target. ADI1P3 is a pseudogene—an inactive DNA sequence relating to the functional ADI1 gene. Only ADI1, not ADI1P3, is an enzyme involved in the methionine salvage pathway and relevant disease processes. ADI1P3 should not be considered a target for drug discovery or therapy[1][4][7].
