Overview

Acrosin-binding protein (ACRBP) is an acrosomal protein that maintains proacrosin as an enzymatically inactive zymogen in the sperm acrosome, playing a role in acrosome formation and function[2][5]. It is a member of the cancer/testis antigen family, being expressed in normal tissue almost exclusively in the testis but found aberrantly overexpressed in multiple tumor types (such as bladder, breast, lung, liver, and colon)[1][2]. ACRBP is immunogenic and serves as a potential biomarker and therapeutic target in cancers, as well as having a critical role in male fertility through its regulation of sperm acrosomal processes[1][2][5].
