ACSL3 antisense RNA 1 (ACSL3-AS1)

ACSL3-AS1
Molecular classification
Long noncoding RNA

Overview

ACSL3 antisense RNA 1 (ACSL3-AS1) is a long noncoding RNA gene transcript located antisense to the ACSL3 protein-coding gene[1]. Unlike ACSL3, an enzyme that activates fatty acids and is implicated in cancer progression and metabolism[2][3][4], ACSL3-AS1’s function is poorly characterized and is not recognized as a classical therapeutic target. There is no direct evidence of drugs or clinical interventions targeting ACSL3-AS1. Its presence may be relevant in gene regulatory studies, but its clinical significance remains underexplored[1]. Do not conflate ACSL3-AS1 with ACSL3: ACSL3 is a validated therapeutic target related to enzymes and cancer biology[2][3][4], whereas ACSL3-AS1 is a noncoding RNA with unknown or unproven direct roles in disease or therapy[1].
