Overview

Actin gamma 1 pseudogene 12 (ACTG1P12) is a human pseudogene related to the actin gamma 1 protein-coding gene. Unlike ACTG1, which encodes a cytoskeletal actin isoform involved in cell morphology, movement, and various developmental functions[1], ACTG1P12 is considered a nonfunctional copy that does not encode a protein or, as currently documented, participate directly in any biological processes, disease roles, or therapeutic interventions[3]. If a more functionally active pseudogene or a gene with regulatory non-coding RNA activity is required, ACTG1P12 does not currently meet those criteria in published sources[3]. For information on therapeutic targets related to actin, consult ACTG1, not ACTG1P12[1].
