ACTG1P14 is a processed pseudogene of the canonical ACTG1 gene, and is not an active protein-coding gene or functional receptor/target[5]. It is not considered a therapeutic target, and its entry often results in confusion with the true gamma-actin (ACTG1), an important cytoskeletal protein. No direct biological functions, disease roles, interacting drugs, or mechanisms of action are attributed to ACTG1P14. Unlike the ACTG1 gene, which encodes the functional actin gamma 1 protein (critical for cytoskeleton structure and implicated in hearing loss and developmental syndromes), ACTG1P14 does not produce a functional protein and plays no known biological or disease-related role[5]. Pseudogenes such as ACTG1P14 are typically considered non-functional, though in rare instances some pseudogenes can exert regulatory effects; no such activity is described for ACTG1P14.
