Target intelligence / Profile preview
Actin gamma 1 pseudogene 20 (ACTG1P20) is a pseudogene located in the human genome. Unlike its parent gene ACTG1, which encodes the highly conserved protein gamma-actin with cytoskeletal and motility roles, ACTG1P20 does not produce a functional protein. It has no established biological function, disease association, or therapeutic relevance. The locus has been cataloged primarily to distinguish it from functional actin genes and to prevent misannotation. This gene is of interest mainly in genomic annotation projects as a processed or duplicated pseudogene.
