Overview

Actin-related protein 10 (ACTR10) is a cytoskeletal protein encoded by the ACTR10 gene in humans, belonging to the actin-related protein family[1][2][3][5]. It serves as a component of the dynactin complex, which is essential for activation of the motor protein dynein and is thus involved in microtubule-based transport within cells, specifically supporting retrograde axonal transport of mitochondria and other vesicles in neurons[1][2][5]. It participates in cytoskeletal organization and is predicted to be found mainly in the cytosol, extracellular region, and secretory granule[1][2][5]. ACTR10 has been identified as a regulatory or structural protein that may be involved in multifaceted cellular functions such as neuronal connectivity, immune responses, and maintenance of cellular homeostasis[1]. Dysregulation of ACTR10 has been associated with immune-related changes in diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease and with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, axonal type 2O[1][2]. However, there are no known drugs directly targeting ACTR10, and it is not currently classified as a direct therapeutic target[1][2].
