Overview
Actin-related protein 3 (ACTR3) is a core component of the ARP2/3 complex, which is essential for the nucleation of branched actin filaments. This protein is critical for the regulation of the actin cytoskeleton, influencing cell shape, motility, and processes such as lamellipodia formation. The ARP2/3 complex, including ACTR3, also plays roles in the nucleus, affecting gene transcription and the repair of damaged DNA. ACTR3 dysfunction has been associated with disorders such as Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome and Lynch syndrome 2, and is implicated in actin dynamics–related cellular processes relevant to disease[1][2][3][6].
