Overview

Actin-related protein 3B (ACTR3B) is a member of the actin-related protein (ARP) family, sharing 35–55% identity with conventional actin[1][2][3][4][5][8]. It is an ATP-binding component of the Arp2/3 complex, which regulates actin polymerization and formation of branched actin filament networks[1][2][4][8]. The protein is involved in organizing the actin cytoskeleton, promoting cell shape changes, and potentially modulating cell motility[1][2][8]. Multiple transcript variants and protein isoforms exist due to alternative splicing[1][2]. ACTR3B may play a role in tumor biology, including possible reduction of metastatic potential[1][2][3]. There is currently no evidence identifying ACTR3B as a direct therapeutic target or of clinical drugs targeting it[1][2][5][8].
