Overview

Actin related protein 3C (ACTR3C) is a member of the actin-related protein family, encoded by the ACTR3C gene. It is a predicted protein involved in ATP binding and actin binding, and may have a structural or regulatory role in actin cytoskeleton dynamics. Unlike the well-studied Arp2/3 complex subunits (such as ARPC3), ACTR3C is not a confirmed core component of the Arp2/3 complex and there are currently no reports implicating it as a direct therapeutic target. Its biological function remains largely uncharacterized, though some data link mutations or expression to lung adenoma. No drugs, mechanisms of action, or biomarkers are documented for ACTR3C so far[6]. The target "actin related protein 3C" (ACTR3C) is NOT the same as "ARPC3" (Actin related protein 2/3 complex subunit 3)[1]. ARPC3 is a core component of the Arp2/3 actin-nucleating complex with important roles in cytoskeletal branching and cell motility, and has far more biological and pharmacological characterization[1][3][4][5]. ACTR3C itself does not currently meet the criteria for a canonical therapeutic target.
