Actin-related protein 6 (ARP6)

Target
ARP6
Molecular classification
Actin-related protein (ARP family), Nuclear protein, Chromatin remodeling complex component (SRCAP complex)
01

Overview

Actin-related protein 6 (ARP6; encoded by the ACTR6 gene) is a nuclear actin superfamily member that participates in chromatin remodeling, nucleolus organization, and regulation of ribosomal DNA transcription. ARP6 is a component of the SRCAP chromatin remodeling complex, which is essential for depositing the histone variant H2A.Z in chromatin and thereby influences nucleolar morphology and gene expression. ARP6 shows dynamic, pleiotropic roles under metabolic stress and is required for ribosomal gene regulation and cell survival. While it is a critical nuclear protein for chromosome architecture and cellular homeostasis, there is no evidence to date supporting its use as a therapeutic target, biomarker, or drug-interaction partner.
