Target intelligence / Profile preview
Actinin alpha 4 pseudogene 1 (ACTN4P1) is classified as a pseudogene, a non-protein-coding genomic sequence related to the ACTN4 gene. It is present on chromosome 4 and has one transcript but does not encode an actin-binding protein or participate in cellular functions attributed to the functional ACTN4 protein. Pseudogenes like ACTN4P1 may be transcribed and differentially expressed in various conditions, including aging and progeria[6][7], but do not themselves act as therapeutic targets, receptors, or enzymes. ACTN4P1 is often confused with ACTN4 (alpha-actinin-4), which is a well-studied actin-binding protein involved in cellular migration, cytoskeleton organization, and certain diseases like kidney disorders and cancer[2][3][5]. ACTN4P1, in contrast, does not produce the alpha-actinin-4 protein and has no established drug interactions or biological activity. While ACTN4P1 may be referenced in omics studies as a differentially expressed pseudogene, especially in aging and progeria research[7], current data do not support its use as a therapeutic target, biomarker, or mechanistic entity in disease. Actinin alpha 4 pseudogene 1 (ACTN4P1) is a pseudogene, not a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or other functional protein. It should not be designated as a drug target or biological entity for therapeutic interventions[4][6][7][8].
