Effector T Cell (N/A)

Effector T cells are a diverse population of T lymphocytes that mediate adaptive immune responses. They differentiate from naive T cells upon antigen encounter and execute functions such as direct killing of infected cells (cytotoxic T cells), coordination of immune responses via cytokine secretion (helper T cells), and suppression of immune responses (regulatory T cells). Their activity is critical for controlling infections and cancer, but can also contribute to autoimmune and inflammatory diseases.
